At Pascal Dudouit’s loft, Perpignan, along with Barcelona, is a key event of the season—not just because it is the final race on the calendar. His pigeons carry this competition in their genes. This year, a niece of Leila stood out, confirming that pigeon racing is truly a family affair.
The pigeons entered in the 2024 Perpignan race were finally released on Monday, August 5, after spending a week in the baskets. In France, the first report came from Cricquebœuf-sur-Seine, where Pascal Dudouit clocked his pigeon at 17:47:28.
A Decisive Victory
From 17:47 onwards, the wait began… It was expected that a competitor would soon follow, but it took more than 45 minutes before the second arrival was announced. Tempête had created a significant gap—and in what a fashion!
Tempête is the name of this extraordinary hen, who covered the 725 km at an average speed of 1,120 m/min, securing her the national victory (10th in the international ranking) in this 2024 edition of Perpignan.
An Impressive Track Record
Tempête, Pascal Dudouit’s champion hen, is no newcomer. Born in 2019, she boasts an outstanding record:
• 2nd Coutras, 1,920 pigeons
• 14th Rieux, 527 pigeons
• 17th International Barcelona, 6,211 pigeons
• 91st Ruffec, 1,606 pigeons
• 116th National Perpignan, 4,557 pigeons
• 9th Ace Pigeon CIF hen, 2 prizes in 2023
In 2024, she continues her success:
• 82nd National Barcelona, 3,691 pigeons
• 1st National Perpignan, 4,041 pigeons
• 11th International Perpignan, 14,170 pigeons
• 6th International Females Perpignan, 4,337 pigeons
A Champion’s Pedigree
The friendship between the Dudouit family and Joost De Smeyter is well known, so it is no surprise that her father is a 100% Melden pigeon, a sire of many champions in Barcelona and Aurillac.
Her mother, Lucie, is a half-sister of Leia (1st International Females Perpignan 2015), descending from a father who excelled both in racing and breeding. Her pedigree also includes the famous Lemmens Trophée 750, whose exceptional breeding qualities are still praised by fanciers in Normandy today.
The Crowning Achievement of an Exceptional Loft
Season after season, success continues at Pascal Dudouit’s loft—another national title added to their record! This comes as no surprise to those familiar with this colony’s reputation in international competitions in general and this Catalan stage in particular.
