Hervé Bohn is undoubtedly at the head of one of the most successful colonies in France. In middle distance races, his favourite discipline, he maintains a line of Ace pigeons with the 7th, 9th and 11th National Ace (300 to 500 km) in 2021 (not counting the Aces of the group), in 2022 he remains on same dynamic and shines in championships.
A pigeon fancier since 1986, Hervé has been performing in the speed and middle distance competitions of the Dunkerque group for many years.
To achieve this result the pigeon fancier has invested a lot, but according to him you need very few origins: “Pigeons, depending on their origins, are prepared differently; you have to feed them in a certain way. That’s why you shouldn’t mix too much origins.” When a new strain is introduced to the loft the crosses are only made from the second generation with the youngsters. For speed and middle-distance, Hervé isn’t a fan of inbreeding. “But once you have the ideal couple, you should not change anything and keep many brothers and sisters to ensure the future of the loft.”
1st ace pigeon middle distance 2021 at Dunkerque grouping with 9 prizes out of 9 races. The 3019534.17 is a pigeon bought directly from Maurice Mattheeuws. In 2021 there were only 3 pigeons that made 9/9 in middle distance, 534 is one of them.
Jewels
In the breeding flock there are some little jewel like the Janssen from Hétru, father of all the National Aces, extra traveller and breeder. “There were 9 brothers and each time they were my first 9 entries.”

One of the basic breeders of the colony whose brother will be presented at Hervé Pigeon-Master auction (September). He was always in the first 10 ace pigeons, something extremely rare in Ghyvelde, he was only played three years “his place is in breeding“.
